Day 1. Ely to Denver
We finally left at around 12.30 and managed to make it to the Swan on the River in Littleport for lunch. The service was very Fen. We arrived and pleasantly ignored by all the staff who were intensely studying the till with no obvious effect. The service was similar but the food was good. The day was generally pleasantly sunny but increasingly windy. We encountered quite a few canoeists who were taking part in some kind of adventure weekend. We then pushed on to Denver passing Elvia Orbison (Jaysen the Ely busker) who had organised a mini music event at Brandon Creek. The roof of his barge was filled with women dancing and it looked to be a very jolly affair. Once we reached Denver Cathy finished putting up some curtains in the front cabin. After watching Dads Army film for the umpteenth time we turned in.
